Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains has written a letter to Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, requesting the construction of 5 new bridges over canals

Sri Anandpur Sahib, December 24: From Sri Anandpur Sahib, the local MLA and Cabinet Minister, S. Harjot Singh Bains, wrote a letter to Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, requesting the construction of 5 new bridges over canals related to BBMB in the constituency.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, providing further details, stated that the letter was written to the central minister for the construction of new bridges for the village of Sarsa Nangal, the rebuilding of the 60-year-old bridges in Brahmpur and Daduoli, new bridges for the residents of Attari and surrounding villages, and a new bridge in Bhawawal village. He mentioned that previous governments had failed to maintain the bridges, and as a result, many of them were now in such poor condition that they could no longer be used for transportation. Bains emphasized that the construction of these 5 bridges would address major transportation issues and fulfill the public’s demand.

He further added that although the work on the Nangla flyover was started under the previous government, it was halted due to wrong policies, which caused inconvenience to the residents of Nangla and nearby areas. However, after the Aam Aadmi Party formed the government in the state, meetings with officers were started, and weekly reviews were conducted to complete the flyover. Now, the flyover has been completed and opened for the public.

Bains also highlighted that the Elgran Bridge had to be closed for traffic due to illegal mining near the bridge. He pointed out that the mistakes of the previous governments were causing difficulties for the common people. However, the repair work of the Elgran Bridge, costing approximately ₹17 crore, is set to begin soon, which will restore direct transportation through this bridge.

The Cabinet Minister mentioned that several bridges under the constituency had already been dedicated to the public, and more will be opened soon. He assured that he is working tirelessly for the overall development of the constituency and will continue to do so. Notably, during Bains’ tenure, the work on the Swamipur Bridge was completed, and the work on the Jandala Bridge was also finished and handed over to the public. Additionally, the bridges in Thalu and Kiratpur Sahib are nearly complete and will soon be opened.

For the first time, the names of the villages of Belians were raised in the Punjab Assembly. As a first step, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema proposed ₹100 crore for direct transportation connections for the people of these villages. The process has already begun, and the work on these bridges will start soon. These bridges will be a blessing for the Belians area, solving transportation issues, especially during the floods.
