Jalandhar October 31, 2025 : The Bhagwant Mann–led Punjab government has taken a historic step toward eliminating corruption and the middlemen nexus prevalent in the state’s Transport Department services. As per the new government orders, 56 RTO-related services will now be available through service centers across the state. The move aims to provide the public with transparent, easy, and middleman-free services. These services will be fully operational starting Monday.
Earlier, only 28 Transport Department services were offered through service centers. This number has now been increased to 56. To ensure smooth and efficient delivery, special training has been given to all service center employees. With the launch of these new services today at the Type-A Service Center located in the District Administrative Complex, people enthusiastically began availing the benefits.
Bahadur Singh, the District Manager of the service center, stated that some services are temporarily unavailable due to technical upgrades in the system and software. However, he confirmed that all 56 services will be fully functional by next Monday.
Public Reaction: Hope for Transparent and Middleman-Free Services
Gautam Kapoor, a citizen who visited the service center for transport-related work, said that this new arrangement has brought major relief to the public. Earlier, people had to depend on agents or middlemen, but now all services are available directly at the service center for a fixed government fee. Kapoor added that all documents are now uploaded to the online system, which has made the process faster and more transparent, giving people hope of being free from the middleman culture.
Crowds Gather at RTO Counters in Service Centers
At the Type-A Service Center in the District Administrative Complex, two special counters were set up today for RTO-related services, and heavy crowds were seen throughout the day. Citizens availed services such as driving licenses, vehicle registration, ownership transfer, and challan settlement at these counters.
Meanwhile, at the RTO office, public windows remained closed today, except for the ARTO’s public service window, where citizens paid their online traffic challans. Many people who went directly to the RTO office following the old procedure were informed about the new government decision and redirected to the service centers.
Summary:
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announced that 56 additional government services will now be available at service centers, enhancing convenience and promoting efficient public service delivery.
