CM Bhagwant Mann invites President Murmu to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th anniversary

October 28, 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi today. The Chief Minister invited her to attend the celebrations marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He said, “We have requested the President to choose any date between November 18 and 25 as per her convenience. The Punjab government will warmly welcome her on whichever date she finalizes.”

He added that the President is a deeply religious person and is well aware of the significance of this occasion. Earlier, during her visit to Punjab, she spent nearly two hours at the Darbar Sahib, partook in langar, and listened to kirtan. Chief Ministers from across India and Punjabis living around the world have been invited to join the celebrations.

Ambassadors from various countries are also being invited. The main events will take place from November 23 to November 25. “We must remember our heritage and the sacrifices of our ancestors. The honor we hold today is the result of their supreme sacrifices. The family of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji made the greatest sacrifice — even his grandson was martyred. This is unparalleled in history,” Mann said. The Chief Secretary and other officials were also present during the meeting.

The celebrations began on October 25 at Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi with an Ardas (prayer). Following this, light and sound shows, kirtan darbars, and religious events depicting the life and teachings of Guru Sahib will be organized across all districts of Punjab. Kirtan darbars will also be held at 130 sacred sites associated with Guru Sahib’s life.
