June 12, 2025 : After digitizing the revenue department’s patwar circles, the Punjab government is now launching the “Aasaan Jamabandi” scheme. Starting June 12, land-related documents will be available online. This move is expected to put an end to the alleged exploitation of the public by revenue staff over document issuance.
Under this scheme, any individual can apply for documents online from the comfort of their home. By paying the government-mandated fee, they can also obtain an online copy of the document.
Online Application Will Provide Certified Copy
The biggest benefit of this scheme is that one can now apply online and get a certified copy, which can also be used in legal matters. Earlier, land ownership records and jamabandi details could be viewed online, but these were not considered valid for court use. With this new scheme, launching on June 12 by the Chief Minister for public convenience, that is changing.
Aasaan Registry to Follow
After Aasaan Jamabandi, the government is also initiating the Aasaan Registry service. This will allow people to apply for property registration online and receive the registered documents at home after paying the required fees.
No Need to Visit Fard Kendras or Service Centers
Amritsar DC Sakshi Sahni said that due to the Aasaan Jamabandi initiative, people will no longer need to visit the old tehsil building or service centers located in the District Administrative Complex for land record copies. Until now, people seeking certified land ownership documents had to go to these centers, often wasting time and sometimes encountering corruption. But now, people will be able to receive these verified documents directly on their WhatsApp numbers.
The Jamabandi of Urban Patwar Circle 110 in Amritsar had been pending for the last 3 years. With the efforts of DC Sakshi Sahni, DRO Navkirat Singh Randhawa, and Tehsildar Manmohan Kumar, it has now been approved and made available to the public. Work is ongoing to make it available online.
Summary:
To digitize Punjab’s land record system, a new Jamabandi portal is being launched today.
