October 24, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a significant step regarding the state’s link roads. He has formed a CM Flying Squad that will review the quality and progress of link road repair works across the state. This special squad will include senior officials from the Punjab Mandi Board and the Public Works Department (PWD).
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a link road repair project covering 19,492 kilometers from Tarn Taran. The total expenditure for this ambitious plan will be ₹3,425 crore. The objective of the Flying Squad is not only to ensure the quality of repair works but also to bring transparency and accountability in road construction and maintenance.
The members of the squad will inspect the quality of ongoing repair works across the Malwa, Majha, and Doaba regions. The initiative aims to improve road infrastructure while ensuring transparent and responsible governance.
Below are the responsibilities assigned to various teams formed under the PWD and Punjab Mandi Board:
PWD (Public Works Department) Teams
Team 1:
Engineer Manpreet Singh, Construction Circle, Patiala, has been given responsibility for the Malwa region, covering the districts of Sangrur, Malerkotla, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Mansa, Moga, Mohali, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Patiala, and Rupnagar.
Team 2:
Engineer Rajeev Saini, Construction Circle, Hoshiarpur, will oversee the Majha and Doaba regions, covering Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Punjab Mandi Board Teams
Team 1:
Engineer Davinder Singh, Mandi Board Jalandhar, will monitor the Malwa region, including Fazilka, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Mansa, Moga, Mohali, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Patiala, and Rupnagar.
Team 2:
Engineer Baldev Singh, Punjab Mandi Board, will supervise the Majha region, covering Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
This new monitoring system reflects the Mann government’s strong focus on ensuring high-quality, durable, and transparent road infrastructure across Punjab.
