CM Orders Fast-Track Completion of Hoshiarpur Medical College & Hospital

Chandigarh 12 march 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday directed officials to accelerate the construction of Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital and ensure its timely completion.

Chairing a meeting at his official residence to review the progress of the institute and civil hospital, the Chief Minister stated that the institute aims to provide quality healthcare services to the people. He mentioned that the institute will be built on 21.41 acres at a cost of ₹418.30 crore and will include a 300-bed medical college with 150 annual seats for medical students. Bhagwant Singh Mann further added that the state-of-the-art hospital campus in Hoshiarpur will have two basements, a ground floor, and eight floors.

The Chief Minister stated that the proposed medical college will feature an auditorium and a service block, along with two basements, a ground floor, and six floors. Additionally, the medical college will have separate hostels for boys and girls, constructed with provisions for future expansion. He emphasized that separate tenders should be allocated to speed up the construction of the medical college and civil hospital.

The Chief Minister stressed the urgency of accelerating the construction of the medical college and civil hospital at the proposed site. He highlighted the need to provide quality healthcare facilities to the residents of the Kandi region. Bhagwant Singh Mann instructed officials to ensure the timely and swift completion of the project.
