Delhi, December 19, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The Congress party has defended Rahul Gandhi after an FIR was filed against him in connection with a scuffle in Parliament, calling it a “diversionary tactic” in retaliation for his strong protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar.
In a post on X, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that the case against Rahul Gandhi for standing up for Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy is a “badge of honour.” He further emphasized that the FIR was an attempt to divert attention from Gandhi’s outspoken opposition to Shah’s comments.
Venugopal added, “Rahul Gandhi ji’s fight to defend Babasaheb’s legacy is something he proudly stands for, and the FIR will not deter him or the Congress from challenging the casteist RSS-BJP regime.”
He also pointed out that while the Delhi Police filed the FIR based on a complaint from BJP MPs, no action had been taken on a complaint filed by women MPs from Congress.
In his remarks, Venugopal reiterated that Rahul Gandhi is already facing multiple FIRs due to what the Congress perceives as BJP’s political vendetta, but this latest FIR would not hinder their resolve.
Summary: Congress defends Rahul Gandhi after FIR for ‘defending Ambedkar’s legacy,’ calling it a badge of honour and reaffirming their stance.
