Batala, 1 Oct 2025 : Deputy Director Dairy Development Gurdaspur, Waryam Singh, informed that a two-week dairy training course for dairy farmers will be organized from October 6 to October 17, 2025 at the Dairy Training Centre, Verka, District Amritsar.
He said that unemployed rural youth (both boys and girls) belonging to District Gurdaspur, who wish to start a career in dairy farming, can apply for this training course at the office of the Deputy Director Dairy, Gurdaspur, District Administrative Complex, Block-B, 4th Floor, Room No. 508, by October 3, 2025.
He further stated that to bring diversification in agriculture and to increase farmers’ income, dairy farming is being promoted as a supplementary occupation. For this purpose, the two-week training will be conducted at the Dairy Training and Extension Centre, Verka (District Amritsar) from October 6, 2025. In this course, unemployed rural youth (boys/girls) of District Gurdaspur, who have passed at least 5th standard, are between 18 to 55 years of age, and belong to rural areas, will be eligible to participate.
He also informed that after training, the department will assist participants in establishing dairy units of 2 to 20 animals by facilitating dairy loans through various banks, along with a subsidy of 25% for general category and 33% for Scheduled Caste category.
