Hoshiarpur, 24 Sep 2025 : To ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Census 2026-27, an important district-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Deputy ESA Sunita Paul, ARO Pawneet Kaur, and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
During the review, the Deputy Commissioner assessed district-level preparations in reference to the directions recently issued by Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha. She emphasized that the administrative boundaries of towns and villages must be finalized by December 31, 2025. For re-verification of the reports received in this regard, the responsibility was assigned to the ADC for urban areas and to the SDMs for rural areas.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that the Census is a task of national importance, and hence all concerned officials must fulfill their responsibilities in a time-bound manner. She also instructed that the functioning of the Census Cell established at the district level should be made more active so that all activities can be completed on time as per the prescribed calendar.
