DC Holds Inter-Departmental Meeting to Prepare for Potential Floods

Ferozepur, 2 July 2025 : To tackle the possibility of floods in the district, Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma held a review meeting with officials from various departments. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM Ferozepur Gurmeet Singh Mann, SDM Guru Har Sahai Udedeep Singh, and District Revenue Officer Major Gurjinder Singh Benipal.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that although the current situation in the district is normal, considering the monsoon season, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of rising water levels in the Sutlej River in the coming days, all department heads must prioritize flood management preparations and stay fully ready to respond to any emergency situation.

She directed all SDMs to prepare a list of vulnerable villages so that in case of an emergency, residents of those areas can be safely evacuated without any hindrance. Departments were also instructed to maintain coordination among themselves and to stay in touch with local NGOs and volunteers for support.

She informed that a Flood Control Room has been set up at Room No. 106 in the District Administrative Complex, with the contact number 01632-244017. Residents of the district can call this number in case of any flood-related emergency.

The meeting was also attended by District Development and Panchayat Officer Harjinder Singh, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Himanshu Syal, Drainage XEN Gitesh Upveja, along with officers from Water Resources, BSF, Food and Civil Supplies, and other departments.

Summary:
The Deputy Commissioner convened a meeting with all departmental officials to coordinate planning, resource allocation, and early-response strategies ahead of possible flooding.
