Hoshiarpur, 5 Aug 2025: As per the directions issued by the Punjab Government’s Revenue and Rehabilitation Department, the district administration has commenced a Digital Crop Survey from August 1, which will be completed within the next 45 days.
Providing details, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain stated that around 834 private surveyors are being appointed by the administration, each of whom will conduct a crop survey of at least 70 plots daily. The aim of this digital survey is to collect accurate information on the crops sown in fields through mobile devices so that the government schemes and services can be efficiently delivered to farmers at the grassroots level.
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that these private surveyors will be provided a fixed honorarium, and any interested person who has passed 12th grade, owns an Android phone, and has a bank account can apply to work as a private surveyor by contacting their area’s Tehsildar or Naib Tehsildar.
Sharing details about the survey area, she said that a total of 10.58 lakh agricultural plots/khasras will be surveyed in the district, out of which 5.52 lakh plots have already been uploaded to the system. The remaining data will also be uploaded to the app in the coming days.
Meanwhile, District Revenue Officer Amandeep Chawla said that one surveyor will be appointed per village. Training has already been provided to surveyors who have joined so far, and the remaining ones will be trained at the sub-divisional level in the coming days. He also mentioned that deserving candidates will be paid appropriate honorariums, and due to the limited number of positions, preference will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
