Deputy Commissioner Assigns Independence Day Duties Across Departments for Smooth Celebration

Rupnagar, 5 Aug 2025: Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar, Varjit Walia, today assigned responsibilities to officials regarding the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15 at Nehru Stadium. He directed them to carry out their duties with sincerity and dedication.

Presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all officers to approach this nationally significant event with a spirit of patriotism and ensure their responsibilities are fulfilled with full commitment. Discussions were also held regarding the cultural programs to be conducted during the event. He informed that rehearsals will be held on August 8 and 11, with a full-dress rehearsal scheduled for August 13. He emphasized that time limits should be strictly followed for each cultural performance.

Considering the hot weather, he instructed that proper arrangements for drinking water and medical aid be made for students during rehearsals.

The Deputy Commissioner also issued directions to ensure cleanliness of the stadium, availability of health services, clean drinking water, fire brigade readiness, uninterrupted power supply, and adequate seating arrangements for guests and the public. Departments related to parade, band, and march-past were also asked to be fully prepared. Additionally, in view of the rainy season, he asked all departments to be ready with alternative arrangements in advance.

Present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner Chandarjyoti Singh, Chief Minister Field Officer Abhimanyu Malik, RTO Gurvinder Singh Johal, SP Arvind Meena, Assistant Commissioner (G) Arvindarpal Singh Somal, SDM Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, District Revenue Officer Badaldin, District Education Officer Prem Kumar Mittal, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Garewal, District Food Supply Officer Dr. Kimmi Vanit Kaur Sethi, District Sports Officer Jagjeevan Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Sharma, District Forest Officer Harjinder Singh, Red Cross Secretary Gursohan Singh, and other senior officials.
