Deputy Commissioner Honors Shahkot Block Officers and Employees for National Achievement

Jalandhar, 26 Aug 2025: Under the Aspirational Blocks Programme launched by NITI Aayog, a felicitation ceremony for the Sampoornta Abhiyan of Shahkot Block was organized, where Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal honored the officers and employees who played a crucial role in bringing Shahkot Block to the first position in the country (Zone II) under this prestigious program.

Addressing the gathering at the local Red Cross Bhavan, the Deputy Commissioner said that NITI Aayog had initiated the Aspirational Block Programme to push districts forward in specific sectors, under which Shahkot Block was declared an aspirational block. He mentioned that with the constant guidance and support of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, significant steps were taken to achieve the 39 key indicators in sectors such as health, nutrition, agriculture, education, basic infrastructure, and social development.

Dr. Aggarwal congratulated the officers and employees on this achievement and urged them to work towards making Shahkot one of the developed blocks. He said that this story of success should not stop here but should be replicated in other blocks as well.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner honored SDM Shahkot Shubhi Angra, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurmeet Lal, Chief Agriculture Officer Randhir Singh Thakur, Deputy ESA Arun Kumar Mahajan, District Programme Officer Manjinder Singh, SMO Dr. Deepak Chander, State Nodal Officer NITI Aayog Arushi Sharma, Child Development Project Officer Rajwinder Kaur, Block Project Manager Gurjant Singh, and Jasbir Singh from the Agriculture Department. Along with them, frontline workers such as Anganwadi workers, staff nurses, and ASHA workers were also felicitated.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Amaninder Kaur, SDM Adampur Vivek Kumar Modi (holding additional charge as ADC Rural Development), Assistant Commissioner (UT) Mukilan R, and Red Cross Society Secretary Surjit Lal, along with other officials, were also present at the event.

Summary: The Deputy Commissioner honored Shahkot block officers and employees for their outstanding contributions, praising their dedication and achievements that earned national recognition and brought pride to the region.
