DGP Orders Major Reshuffle, 355 Police Officers and Personnel Reassigned

April 28, 2025 : Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has given all district police chiefs a deadline of May 31 to completely eliminate drugs from the state. Following this, a major reshuffle was carried out in Bathinda Police on Sunday. On the orders of SSP Amneet Kondal, around 355 police officers and personnel posted in PCR, EO Wing, and police posts have been transferred and sent to different police stations across the district.

Transfers have been made at all levels from inspector to constable. Furthermore, deployment at several police posts has been reduced. Although police officials claim these are routine transfers, sources believe this is part of the final crackdown campaign against drugs launched by the police.

The police are taking strong measures to break drug networks and eliminate drug dens. Additional forces have been deployed at police stations where complaints of drug abuse have been received. Each police station is being reinforced with staff from various areas to prevent station in-charges from citing a shortage of manpower as an excuse.

The DGP had already made it clear that drug abuse must be eradicated from Punjab by May 31, 2025, at any cost. Each district must work with full force, and if any district fails to achieve this within the given time, its SSP will face disciplinary action. Therefore, all SSPs have been directed to prepare a detailed blueprint and action plan to be implemented effectively.

In Bathinda, hundreds of personnel from more than four dozen PCR units have been transferred to various police stations. Additionally, many personnel from the Bus Stand Police Post, Refinery Police Post, Balluana Police Post, and Singho Police Post have also been redeployed to police stations.

Regarding this, Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal has issued transfer letters to all concerned individuals and instructed them to report immediately to their new stations and posts.

Summary:
In a major move, the DGP has ordered the redeployment of 355 police officers and personnel, aiming to strengthen law enforcement and operational efficiency.
