Rupnagar, January 30: On the occasion of the Martyrdom Day of the martyrs, freedom fighters, and the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who sacrificed their lives during the country’s freedom struggle, a tribute ceremony was organized by the district administration of Rupnagar. They were honored with a floral tribute, and a two-minute silence was observed to pay respects.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mrs. Pooja Syail Grewal stated that January 30 is a very important day in the history of India, and on this day, the nation remembers Mahatma Gandhi and all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Regarding the tribute ceremony for the martyrs, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that it is because of these martyrs that we are enjoying freedom today, and we should take guidance from their struggle-filled lives to shape our own.
She emphasized that we must work hard to fulfill the dreams they left behind and strive to maintain peace, harmony, and brotherhood within the country.
On this occasion, SP Mrs. Rupinder Kaur Saran, Assistant Commissioner (General) S. Arvinderpal Singh Somal, RTI S. Gurvinder Singh Johal, SDM Nangal Mrs. Anmjot Kaur, SDM Chamkaur Sahib S. Amrik Singh Sidhu, SDM Morinda S. Sukhpal Singh, District Revenue Officer Mr. Badaldeen, District Public Relations Officer Mr. Karan Mehta, District Mining Officer Mr. Tarun Goel, and other senior officials and staff from various departments were present.
