Faridkot, 19 Aug 2025: District Magistrate Faridkot, Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur (IAS), exercising the powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, has issued orders imposing several restrictions in District Faridkot, which will remain in force till October 14, 2025. According to the orders, within the limits of District Faridkot, no person shall organize any religious or celebratory program, gathering, or rally in public places by erecting shamiyanas in streets or neighborhoods without prior permission from the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate. To maintain law and order, the District Magistrate has prohibited the assembly of five or more persons in public or government places, including meetings, protests, rallies, or demonstrations; however, with written permission from the concerned SDM, such gatherings or religious processions may be allowed under specified conditions. These restrictions shall not apply to police, home guards, armed/paramilitary forces on duty, or peaceful wedding processions. The District Magistrate has also prohibited the use of domestic LPG cylinders at commercial places such as restaurants, roadside eateries, and tea shops, effective till October 14, 2025. Orders have been issued banning triple riding (except when carrying a child) on two-wheelers, vehicles without number plates, and use of vehicles (motorcycles and scooters) by persons under 18 years of age; the use of multi-tone horns or removal of silencers to create frightening/loud noises has also been completely prohibited. To maintain law and order, carrying or displaying licensed weapons inside the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, SSP office, SDM offices, Judicial Complexes, public places such as marriage palaces, hotels, dhabas, hospitals, religious places, fairs, and crowded areas has been banned. Arms license holders are prohibited from carrying weapons concealed in boxes within the district; if they wish to carry a weapon, it must be in a belt with cover and kept visible, so that those carrying illegal concealed arms can be identified and caught. Carrying and displaying naked swords, spears, or any sharp-edged weapons has also been strictly prohibited. These restrictions will remain effective till October 14, 2025.
