District Magistrate Announces Implementation of Various Restrictions Across the District

13 Aug 2025 : District Magistrate of Bathinda, Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Parray, has issued several restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, applicable within the district.

Key points from the order:

  • Ban on military-style attire and vehicles: Use of olive green military uniforms and olive green (military color) jeeps, motorcycles, or cars is prohibited in the district.
  • Mandatory village patrols: Able-bodied adult men in villages near rail tracks, canals, bridges, water supply schemes, drains, or pipelines must perform community watch duties to prevent damage.
  • Ban near airport: Use of sky lanterns, wish lanterns, or similar objects is strictly prohibited within 2 km of the district airport for aviation safety.
  • Traffic restrictions: No parking of trucks in narrow areas near Hanuman Chowk, Gouniana Road, and Sports Stadium Road; truck movement is prohibited near MSD School and Guru Harkrishan Public School from 6–9 a.m. and 1–3 p.m. for student safety.
  • Prison rules enforcement: Possession of prohibited items and illegal activities inside Central Jail Bathinda are banned.
  • Ban on fireworks and celebratory gunfire at weddings or public events to maintain law and order.
  • Ban on climbing water tanks or other high structures without authorization.
  • Ban on unauthorized storage, transport, or sale of semen (likely referring to livestock breeding material).
  • Ban on digging new unapproved wells without written permission from relevant engineering authorities.
  • Mandatory PG/tenant registration: All paying guest facility owners must register their premises and tenants/students with local police, ensure CCTV cameras and fire safety equipment are installed.

These orders will remain in force until October 9, 2025.
