District Magistrate Bans Carrying of Licensed Weapons Across the District

Bathinda, 22 July 2025 : In view of the upcoming Sub-Panchayat Elections 2025, District Magistrate Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Pare has, under the powers conferred by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), imposed a complete ban across the district on carrying any kind of licensed firearms, explosives, deadly weapons, or any items that could disturb public peace and order. This restriction is effective from the date of issuance until July 28, 2025.

According to the order, all arms license holders within the district must deposit their licensed weapons at the nearest police station or with authorized arms dealers.

However, exemptions are granted to army personnel, paramilitary forces, police personnel, bank security guards, factory security guards, petrol pump owners, money exchange owners, jewellery shop owners, sportspersons (shooters who are members of the National Rifle Association and are participating in events), individuals with Z+ security cover, and those who have been granted exemption by a competent court for personal security reasons.

These restrictions will remain in force until July 28, 2025.

Summary:
The District Magistrate has issued an order prohibiting the carrying of any licensed weapons within the district to maintain law and order.
