District Magistrate Imposes Multiple Restrictions Across the District

Bathinda,4 July 2025  :District Magistrate Shaukat Ahmad Pare has issued important orders under the powers granted by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Key Highlights of the Orders:

1. Ban on Dangerous Tractor Stunts:

A complete ban has been imposed on organizing or performing dangerous stunts or demonstrations using tractors and related equipment within the territorial limits of Bathinda district.

2. Ban on Sale of Pregabalin 75 mg Capsules/Tablets:

  • A strict prohibition has been enforced on the sale of Pregabalin 75 mg capsules/tablets.
  • Chemists must stamp the prescription slip and record the date of sale while dispensing the medicine.
  • This action was taken following a report from the Civil Surgeon, who highlighted that this medicine is being misused as a recreational drug by the public.

3. Strict Prescription Rules:

  • No wholesaler, retailer, chemist, or pharmacy (including those within hospitals) is allowed to sell Pregabalin 75 mg without a valid prescription.
  • Detailed records must be maintained, including the commercial name of the chemist/retailer, distribution date, and number of capsules/tablets dispensed, along with a stamp on the original prescription.
  • Sellers must verify that the prescribed capsules have not already been dispensed by another seller, and ensure that the quantity sold does not exceed the prescription limit.

4. Ban on Weapons at Gatherings and Institutions:

  • Carrying weapons to fairs, religious processions, weddings, or educational campuses is strictly prohibited.
  • No individual is allowed to display or carry sharp-edged weapons or firearms in public places within the district.

5. No Promotion of Weapons on Social Media:

  • Citizens are prohibited from uploading photos or videos promoting weapons or praising weapon use on social media.
  • No person shall perform songs or plays that promote or glorify weapons during any function, event, or program.

6. Exemptions:

  • These restrictions do not apply to members of the armed forces, police, home guards, or other government personnel who are authorized to carry weapons for state security or law enforcement.
  • Also exempt are security personnel on duty at educational or commercial establishments, hotels, wedding venues, etc.

Duration:

These orders will remain in effect until August 31, 2025.

Summary:
The District Magistrate has enforced various restrictions to maintain public order, including curbs on gatherings, movement, and certain activities, under applicable legal provisions.
