Hoshiarpur, 10 July 2025 : District Magistrate Ashika Jain has issued several restriction orders within the district under the powers granted by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
Key orders issued:
- Registration of workers and tenants:
Poultry farm owners, rice sheller operators, brick kiln owners, and other small-scale industry owners, as well as anyone employing workers, are required to maintain a register at home with full name, address, and three photographs (left, right, and front pose) of all workers. They must also record the fingerprints of workers in the register and submit all records to the local police station or post immediately.
House/shop owners, tenants, and in-charges must register details (name and address) of any current or future tenant at the local police station or post without delay.
- Ban on cutting specific trees:
There is a complete ban on cutting green mango, neem, peepal, and banyan trees in de-listed forest areas. If cutting is required in special cases, it can only be done with permission from the Forest Department following the process used under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900 (Sections 4 and 5). Outside de-listed areas, permission must be obtained from the Deputy Commissioner’s office before felling these trees. - Ban on hate speech:
There is a strict prohibition on hate speeches by any individual or social/religious groups in public gatherings, religious places, wedding parties, or other events. Legal action will be taken against violators under relevant laws. - Ban on animal activities in water bodies and public places:
There is a complete ban on allowing animals to drink or bathe in major and minor canals, drains, or river banks (including Dhussi Bandh of Beas River). Grazing animals openly on public roads or places is also banned. - Ban on crop residue burning near ammunition depot:
No one is allowed to burn crop residue within 1000 yards (914 meters) of the boundary wall of the 18 Ammunition Depot, Uchi Bassi, Tehsil Dasuya.
Duration of enforcement:
All the above restrictions will remain in effect until 7 September 2025.
