District Magistrate issues orders to clean privately owned and vacant plots

Faridkot, October 23, 2025 : District Magistrate of Faridkot, Madam Poonamdeep Kaur, exercising the powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has issued orders to ensure preventive measures are taken to avoid diseases caused by the accumulation of garbage, filth, and stagnant water in privately owned or occupied vacant plots within the boundaries of Faridkot district.

According to the issued orders, the owners or occupants of vacant plots in the city must immediately ensure the cleaning of accumulated garbage heaps, filth, and stagnant dirty rainwater in their plots at their own level. They must also ensure that their owned or occupied vacant plots are properly enclosed with a boundary wall or fencing to prevent garbage accumulation inside the plots.

District Magistrate Madam Poonamdeep Kaur stated that in various parts of the city, garbage, dirt, and stagnant water continue to accumulate in privately owned or occupied vacant plots, leading to the breeding of harmful insects and pests that spread various diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. These diseases pose a serious and life-threatening risk to the health of city residents.

In such circumstances, cleaning these vacant plots is essential to prevent the spread of such diseases. Considering all these factors, this order has been issued. The order will remain in effect until December 13, 2025.

The District Magistrate has directed property owners to ensure timely cleaning of private or vacant plots to prevent health hazards and maintain public cleanliness in the area.
