Faridkot, 24 June 2025 : A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee and Safe School Vehicle Scheme review was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Madam Poonamdeep Kaur to strictly implement road safety rules across the district. Officials from various concerned departments participated in the meeting.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for strict enforcement to ensure that the general public follows traffic rules. She reviewed issues such as unauthorized parking, overspeeding, challans for overloaded vehicles, and women’s safety in buses. During the meeting, the implementation of the Safe School Vehicle Policy and the regular health checkups of drivers were also discussed to ensure the safety of school children.
She further stated that compliance with road safety regulations is crucial to prevent accidents, and violators should be penalized with challans. She also instructed that helmets must be worn by two-wheeler riders and seat belts must be used in four-wheelers.
On the occasion, Regional Transport Officer Madam Harjot Kaur assured the Deputy Commissioner that strict compliance with road safety rules will be ensured in the district and school buses/vans will be inspected from time to time under the Safe School Policy. She also mentioned that officials and employees have been trained regarding the e-DAAR and i-DAAR portals, and were given information about the cashless treatment scheme as well.

Municipal Council Faridkot Shri Amrit Lal, Nathha Singh B.D.P.O. Faridkot, Gurdas Singh A.D.O. Mandi Board, D.A.C. Shamsher Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Praveen Kala from NGO, along with officials from various departments and NGO representatives.
