Dr. Baljit Kaur Distributes ₹8.72 Crore Loan Waiver Certificates to 500 SC Families

Malout 1 July 2025  : Under the welfare campaign launched by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the upliftment of the underprivileged and backward sections of society, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur today distributed loan waiver certificates worth ₹8.72 crore to 500 families belonging to the SC (Scheduled Caste) community at K.G. Palace in Malout. On this occasion, under the Ashirwad Scheme, the minister also distributed approval letters to 140 beneficiaries, granting ₹51,000 each, totaling ₹71.40 lakh.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab government is actively helping the needy and backward sections of society. She said that the state government is ensuring the welfare of as many people as possible so that every segment of society benefits. She added that for the first time in the history of Punjab, such relief has been provided to the marginalized and underprivileged. This has only been possible because, for the first time, the state’s budget has been dedicated to the welfare of the common people. She emphasized that the government is spending every single rupee from the state treasury on public welfare.

The Cabinet Minister further mentioned that this loan waiver covers all loans distributed by the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development & Finance Corporation (PSCFC), which provides significant relief to the SC community and the differently-abled. She explained that the waiver applies to all loans issued by the PSCFC up to March 31, 2020. Beneficiaries have been issued “No Dues” certificates. The government will repay the entire outstanding amount including principal, interest, and penal interest calculated up to April 30, 2025, to the PSCFC. She clarified that no recovery action will be initiated against the borrowers by PSCFC after this loan waiver.

Also present at the event were District Welfare Officer Jagmohan Singh, personal assistants to the Cabinet Minister Arshdeep Singh Sidhu and Shinderpal Singh, Ramesh Singh Arniwala, Sukhpal Singh (Truck Union President), Sarpanch Yadvinder Singh, Sarpanch Nirmal Singh, Kulvinder Singh Bittu, Sarpanch Jyoti, Dr. Sadhu Singh, along with a large number of beneficiaries.
