Delhi, January 6, 2025 : An earthquake shook Maharashtra early this morning. A tremor was felt in Palghar district on Monday with a magnitude of 3.7. The tremors were felt while people were still deep in sleep, causing them to rush out of their homes in panic.
According to officials, there have been no reports of any casualties or financial losses so far. Vivekanand Kadam, the head of the District Disaster Management Cell, mentioned in an official report that the earthquake occurred at 4:35 AM in Dahanu taluka. People in the areas of Bordy, Dapchari, and Talasari reported feeling the tremors. Though people were frightened, there have been no reports of any fatalities.
Earlier, on Wednesday morning, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 struck the Kutch district of Gujarat. This information was provided by the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). The district administration reported that there have been no reports of casualties or financial losses due to the earthquake.
Last month, four seismic activities with magnitudes above 3 were recorded in the region, including a 3.2 magnitude earthquake three days ago, which was centered near Bhachau. According to ISR, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the district on December 23, and a 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred on December 7. A 4.0 magnitude earthquake had also occurred in Kutch on November 18 of last year.
