Sangrur, 18 June 2025 : – Dr. Kamaldeep Sharma, Chairperson Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch, Sangrur, held a meeting to review the various activities and functions of Red Cross. During the meeting, it was decided to enroll more girls in vocational courses to make them self-reliant.
Notably, Red Cross is currently enrolling over 200 girls in vocational education. The members presented suggestions on running training centers, such as computer centers, beauty parlors, and shorthand centers. The Chairperson emphasized that more focus should be given to computer training, as it is a necessity in today’s time.
The Chairperson stated that empowering women in real terms requires making girls stand on their own feet, which is a significant need of the hour. She also emphasized the importance of tailoring and stitching skills, and instructed the Red Cross members to encourage more girls to take up these skills.
The Chairperson directed the Red Cross members to showcase new stitching dresses and designs to girls at various boutiques in Sangrur district to further enhance their skills. She also instructed the members to visit the hospital every week to ensure cleanliness and other aspects, so that the public visiting the civil hospital does not face any difficulties.
The Chairperson also directed the Red Cross members to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 with great enthusiasm at various places, such as old age homes and de-addiction centers.
She added that cancer awareness camps will also be organized in the coming days, and the Secretary Red Cross Society was instructed to coordinate with the Homi Bhabha Hospital Sangrur in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Smt. Jasveer Kaur, District Social Security Officer-cum-Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Sangrur, Smt. Nimmi Bansal, Smt. Kusum Maghan, Smt. Kusum Garg, Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, Smt. Shweta Jain, Smt. Sonika Jain, Shri Sarabjit Singh Rekhi, and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh.
