Batala, 1 Aug 2025 : Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Gurdaspur, informed that as per the directions of the Punjab Government, the district administration of Gurdaspur is continuously checking the stock of private fertilizer dealers to ensure the availability of urea fertilizer in the district. To avoid any shortage and for the convenience of farmers, a helpline number has been issued.

Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi said that a helpline number 1800-180-1852 has been launched to prevent black marketing of fertilizers. A control room has been set up at the District Administrative Complex, Gurdaspur, where officials and staff have been deployed around the clock. Every call received on the helpline will be responded to with immediate and appropriate action.

He stated that farmers can report any information regarding fertilizer hoarding or black marketing on this helpline number.

He further clarified that there is no shortage of urea fertilizer in Gurdaspur district. All dealers have been instructed to maintain their licenses and other essential documents properly, and to clearly display the stock and prices of fertilizers on a board daily. He warned that if any shopkeeper is found selling fertilizer, pesticide, or seeds without a bill during inspections, strict legal action will be taken under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985.

He also appealed to farmers to always ask for a bill while purchasing fertilizers, pesticides, or seeds. If any dealer refuses to provide a bill, a written complaint can be made to the concerned Agriculture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, or through the district-level control room at the number 1800-180-1852.
