Fazilka, 20 June 2025 : Under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Raj Kumar and the guidance of Dr. Rohit Goel, Dr. Kavita Singh, and Dr. Sunita Camboj, anti-dengue and anti-malaria activities are being carried out effectively across the Fazilka district.
Today, under the “Dengue Te Vaar Every Friday” campaign, health workers conducted awareness and preventive drives in government and private nurseries in Arniwala, supervised by SMO Dr. Pankaj Chauhan from Dabwala Adhnian. The focus of these activities was to eliminate mosquito breeding sources.
Health worker Ravinder Sharma said that the health department teams inspected water sources in the nursery located in Channanwala village where water had been stagnant for over a week. Anti-larval spraying was carried out at these sites. He stressed that precautionary measures are crucial to prevent dengue and recommended that water storage containers be emptied and dried once a week before reuse to prevent mosquito breeding.
Mass Media In-charge Divesh Kumar and SI Vijay Kumar explained that dengue fever spreads through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which bites during the daytime and breeds in clean stagnant water for more than a week. They advised people not to allow water to accumulate in discarded tyres, broken pots, flower vases, or any such containers.
They also advised the public to:
- Use mosquito nets and repellents
- Wear clothes that cover the body
- Ensure there is no stagnant water around homes
- Keep household water tanks covered
If anyone experiences symptoms like high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and body aches, or loss of appetite, they should immediately visit the nearest civil hospital and consult a specialist doctor.
Dengue testing and treatment are provided free of cost at all government hospitals.
Summary: Under the “Har Shukkarvaar, Dengue Te Vaar” initiative, Fazilka’s health department inspects hospitals, nurseries, and homes every Friday, spraying larvicide, issuing challans, and raising awareness to combat dengue.
