Sahnewal 5 Sep 2025: With the water level of the Sutlej River continuously rising, the Ludhiana district administration has issued a warning for villages around Sasarali, where the Dhussi Dam has weakened. Authorities have urged residents to take safety measures and move to safer locations.
According to instructions issued on Friday morning, the dam near Sasarali (in Ludhiana East area) is under serious pressure due to the strong flow of water. Efforts are being made to strengthen and secure the embankment. However, if any cracks or damage occur, villages such as Sasarali, Boont, Rawat, Hawas, Sida, Boothgarh, Mangli Tanda, Dheri, Khwajke, Khasi Khurd, Mangli Kadar, Mattewara, Mangat, and Meharban could be affected and face the risk of flooding.
Guidelines for residents:
- Stay on high alert and keep monitoring the situation.
- If your house is double-storied, stay on the first floor for safety.
- If you live in a low-lying area or a single-storied house, temporarily vacate and move to a safe place.
- Keep your important documents and valuables in waterproof bags so they can be taken quickly if needed.
- Ensure elderly, children, and sick persons are moved to safety first.
