Jalandhar November 20, 2025: The Shrimann Hospital located on Pathankot Road in the city (now Fortis Shrimann Super Speciality Hospital) has landed in controversy. Serious negligence by the hospital has come to light, putting the matter in the spotlight.
According to information, Jalandhar’s well-known businessman Pawan Kumar was diagnosed with a disease in his medical report that he never actually had. Due to this incorrect report, not only did Pawan Kumar suffer mental stress, but his health insurance was also cancelled. Pawan Kumar said that the mistake in the report caused him tremendous trouble. He has filed a case in the Consumer Forum against Shrimann Hospital (Fortis Shrimann) and Star Health Insurance. He has also sent a legal notice of ₹50 lakh to the hospital.
What is the whole matter?
According to complainant Pawan Kumar, he had mild chest pain, for which he went to Shrimann Hospital. Dr. V.P. Sharma examined him and discharged him the next day. However, his report mentioned a serious condition called DVD (Double Vessel Disease), although he had no such issue. Based on this report, when he filed a claim with Star Health Insurance, the company rejected it, citing a serious illness.
When Pawan Kumar showed this report to Dr. Sharma, the doctor admitted the mistake, apologized, and said it was a typing error. He then issued a new, corrected report. The businessman said that he had to endure mental harassment due to the hospital’s negligence, and both the hospital and Star Health Insurance are responsible for this.
Summary:
A businessman has issued a ₹50 lakh notice to Fortis Hospital, alleging serious medical negligence, putting the hospital under scrutiny and prompting calls for accountability.
