Full Waiver on Interest & Penalty for Lump‑Sum Property Tax Payments by July 31

Malerkotla,  11 July 2025 : Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu informed that in response to the strong demand from the general public, schemes offering waiver of interest and penalty on the one-time payment of outstanding property tax had been implemented earlier. These schemes received a tremendous response, with many taxpayers paying off large amounts of overdue tax.

Now, considering the public’s continued enthusiasm and demand, the government has reintroduced the scheme. Under this scheme, any property owner—whether residential, commercial, or industrial—who pays their entire outstanding property tax in one go by July 31, 2025, will be granted 100% waiver on interest and penalties. This means they will only have to pay the principal tax amount.

However, if the outstanding tax is paid between August 1 and October 31, 2025, then the taxpayer will receive a 50% waiver on interest and penalties.

He appealed to all residents under municipal councils and nagar panchayats of the district to take advantage of this scheme by immediately paying off any outstanding property tax—whether for residential, commercial, or industrial properties—and benefit from the government’s relief initiative.

Summary:
Punjab government offers a complete waiver of interest and penalties if outstanding property taxes are fully paid by July 31; a partial waiver applies for payments made by October 31.
