10 Sep 2025: Punjab’s Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister, Hardeep Singh Mundia, has called the announced relief of ₹1,600 crore for Punjab insufficient to cope with the severe floods affecting the state. He stated that at least an interim relief of ₹20,000 crore should be released and the blocked funds of ₹60,000 crore should be made available. He added that providing only ₹1,600 crore instead of the demanded ₹80,000 crore is an insult to the state’s farmers.
Summary: Hardeep Singh Mundia appealed to the Prime Minister, stating that the proposed ₹1,600 crore relief is insufficient and urging an interim package of ₹20,000 crore.
