HC Denies Relief to Bikram Majithia in Disproportionate Assets Case

3 July 2025: Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia has not received any relief from the High Court for now. The court stated that since the latest remand order has not yet been received, it cannot be challenged.

The government informed that the order from the Mohali court will arrive by 2 PM today. The hearing on the matter will resume tomorrow.

It is worth mentioning that the Mohali court had yesterday extended the vigilance remand of Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia by four days. Majithia was presented in the Mohali court yesterday after the completion of a seven-day remand in the case related to drug money and disproportionate assets. A debate between both parties lasted for around four hours.

Strict security arrangements were in place outside the Mohali court during Majithia’s appearance. During this time, police detained Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal along with other Akali leaders near the Chandigarh-Mohali border. Sukhbir Badal alleged that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has imposed an undeclared emergency in the state.

Police arrested Akali leaders Darbara Singh Guru, Parvinder Singh Sohana, Youth Akali Dal president Sarbjit Singh Jhinjer, and dozens of workers as they marched from Amb Sahib, breaking police barricades, toward the Vigilance Office. Sukhbir and the other leaders were released shortly after being taken to the Phase 11 police station.

Summary:
Punjab & Haryana High Court refused relief to SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, extending his Mohali court remand by four days in a ₹540 crore drug-money laundering probe.
