High Court Denies Relief to Majithia in Disproportionate Assets Case

Chandigarh,  8 July 2025 : Troubles continue to mount for senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Majithia as he failed to get any relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Majithia had filed a petition in court challenging his arrest as illegal. However, during today’s hearing, the court did not grant him any relief, meaning he will remain in jail for now.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for 29 July. Earlier, on 6 July, the Vigilance Department had produced Majithia before the Mohali court, which sent him to 14 days’ judicial custody and he was lodged in New Nabha Jail.

It is noteworthy that Majithia was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Department from his residence in Amritsar in a disproportionate assets case. He is accused of possessing assets worth over ₹540 crore, which are allegedly far beyond his known sources of income.

Summary:
SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia faced a legal setback as the High Court denied him relief, criticizing procedural lapses and adjourning the case to July 8.
