Bathinda, 11 July 2025: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Pare, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Mr. Narinder Singh Dhaliwal held a meeting with the families of freedom fighters across the district to discuss their demands and concerns. During the meeting, he assured them of every possible assistance from the district administration.
The ADC assured the families that memorial stones in the native villages of freedom fighters would be installed promptly, and those wrongly placed would be relocated to suitable locations. To ensure honor and respect for freedom fighters’ families in government offices, a circular will soon be issued to all departments instructing the same.
He also stated that meetings will be held with banks to resolve the issue of providing pensions to the unmarried dependents of freedom fighters on a priority basis. He further directed electricity department officials (PSPCL) to ensure that all entitled benefits are provided to freedom fighters and their families.
The ADC also instructed that the photographs of freedom fighters displayed at the District Administrative Complex be covered with glass for preservation. Steps will be taken to waive parking charges for freedom fighters’ families at government offices. The possibility of extending benefits to the fourth generation of freedom fighters’ families is also being explored.
Prominent attendees included State General Secretary Mr. Ravinder Singh Nangla, Senior State Meet President Kuldeep Singh, District President Nirmal Singh Malout, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Lekhak, Gurjeevan Singh Brar, Sukhminder Singh, Jalal Singh Phool, Yudhveer Singh, and many other descendants of freedom fighters.
