Jyoti Foundation celebrates Green Diwali with 14 flood-affected border villages of Fazilka

Fazilka, October 23, 2025 : Jyoti Foundation, led by its founders Prabhkiran Brar and Ajit Brar, brought joy and light back into the lives of residents of 14 border villages in the flood-affected Fazilka district by spreading the joy of Diwali. The Foundation’s team celebrated the festival with local families, distributing new clothes, sweets, and eco-friendly diyas. The Foundation team also spread the message of celebrating an eco-friendly and green Diwali, based on sustainability, hope, and community unity.

These 14 villages, with a total population of over 12,000, were among the hardest hit during the floods. Nearly 7,000 acres of fertile agricultural land were submerged. After adopting these villages, Jyoti Foundation is carrying out large-scale relief and rehabilitation work, including desilting, leveling, and restoring land to help farmers resume their livelihoods.

“Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness – and for these families, their courage is the true light,” said Ajit Brar, founder of the Jyoti Foundation. “We are committed not only to providing relief, but also to restoring lives, restoring land to agriculture, and ensuring long-term rehabilitation while maintaining hope.”

Foundation Chairperson Prabhkiran Brar said, “I always believe that festivals teach us gratitude to God. This Diwali, we will spread light in the lives of others not just with our diyas but also with our compassion. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children in these villages again reminds me that when we bring hope to someone else, that light spreads all around.”
