Licenses of 5 IELTS Centers Cancelled in Punjab Over Regulatory Violations

Bathinda, April 30: District Magistrate Mr. Shaukat Ahmed Pare has cancelled the licenses of 5 IELTS centers under the Punjab Prevention of Human Trafficking Act, 2012 and the Punjab Prevention of Human Trafficking Rules, 2013 (Amended Title: Travel Professional Regulation).

According to the issued orders:

  1. M/s Visa Empire, Gali No. 18, Ajit Road, Bathinda, registered in the name of Mr. Naveen Jindal, son of Mr. Rajinder Pal, resident of House No. 131, Ward No. 1, Backside Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Preet Nurse Wali Gali, Bhucho Mandi, District Bathinda, was issued a consultancy and IELTS license No. 370/MA2/MC6 dated 11-01-2024, valid till 10-01-2029.
  2. M/s Woods IELTS, Khewat No. 926, Patti Jai Singh, Tehsil Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, registered in the name of Mr. Amanpreet Singh, son of Mr. Karam Singh, resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Gali No. 10/26, Ward No. 4, District Bathinda, was issued IELTS license No. 338/MA2/MC6 dated 01-10-2023, valid till 28-12-2028.
  3. M/s Altus Overseas Education, Bibi Wala Road near ICICI Bank, Bathinda, registered in the name of Jagdeep Singh Brar, son of Thakkar Singh Brar, resident of House No. 22539, Gali No. 18, Bhagu Road, Bathinda, and Seema Sachdeva, wife of Mr. Love Sachdeva, resident of 377, Model Town Phase-1, Bathinda, was issued consultancy license No. 136/CEA/CC3 dated 28-12-2020, valid till 27-12-2025.
  4. M/s Oxford Visa Hub, near Old Hospital, Barnala Road, Bhagta Bhai Ka, District Bathinda, registered in the name of Lakhveer Singh, son of Gurbachan Singh, resident of Village Kalyan Malka, District Bathinda, was issued consultancy and IELTS license No. 380/MA2/MC6 dated 16-01-2024, valid till 15-01-2029.
  5. M/s Aagaz Institute, MCB-Z-2-09184, Main Ajit Road, Bathinda, registered in the name of Harpreet Singh Romana, son of Mr. Avtar Singh, resident of House No. 313, Ganpati Enclave, Dabwali Road, Bathinda, was issued IELTS license No. 364/MA2/MC6 dated 29-12-2023, valid till 30-09-2028.

According to the orders, all applicants have submitted written notices stating that they have closed their institutes and do not intend to continue this business. Hence, their licenses are being cancelled.

As per Section 8(1) of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Rules under the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act, a travel agent can surrender the license at any time after its issuance by giving a two-month notice to the competent authority. Once the notice period ends, the license is considered cancelled.

Therefore, in view of the above circumstances, the licenses are hereby cancelled with immediate effect under Section 8(1) of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation. Additionally, if any complaint arises against these firms or individuals in the future, they will be solely responsible for it.
