Bathinda, April 29, 2025 : As of April 28, 2025, a total of 705,399 metric tons of wheat has arrived in various grain markets of the district, out of which 659,408 metric tons have already been procured by various purchasing agencies. Additionally, farmers have been paid ₹1,374.80 crore for the wheat. The procurement of wheat in the district’s markets is proceeding smoothly. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Pare.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to further speed up the ongoing wheat procurement and lifting process in the district. He also ordered the necessary arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness, and other essential facilities for farmers in the markets. He emphasized that no negligence or laxity will be tolerated during the wheat procurement process.
Providing more details, District Food and Supply Controller Dr. Ravinder Kaur stated that as of April 28, the wheat procured by different agencies includes 207,102 metric tons by Pungrain, 141,027 by Markfed, 148,645 by Punsup, 111,234 by Warehousing Corporation, and 51,400 metric tons by private traders.
