Jalandhar/Phillaur October 15, 2025 : A case has been registered against former SHO of Phillaur police station, Bhushan Kumar, of Jalandhar Rural Police. The case was filed following the directions of SSP Harvinder Singh Virk, after an audio and video of SHO Bhushan Kumar went viral on social media. Police have registered the report under Section 504 of the CrPC, along with Sections 334/14-10-2025, 75(1) of the BNS, 67(D) of the Police Act, and 67 of the IT Act.
What’s the case about:
It’s worth mentioning that former SHO Bhushan Kumar had already been suspended earlier for allegedly summoning the mother of a rape victim alone to the police station. Now, another woman has come forward accusing him of harassment. The woman provided the media with an audio clip and a screen recording of a video call, in which the SHO is reportedly seen without clothes. She stated that after seeing news of another victim, she gathered the courage to speak up about the harassment faced by her daughter. The woman alleged that the SHO first tried to contact her husband and then her daughter, repeatedly calling and video calling them, which forced the family to leave their home.
Meanwhile, Bhushan Kumar has denied all allegations, calling them baseless. He claimed that a conspiracy has been hatched against him and that a group of people is spreading falsehoods. He further stated that the police station is equipped with High Court–monitored cameras, and the recordings will reveal the truth. Additionally, he alleged that he has received threatening calls from a Pakistani number.
Summary:
Suspended Jalandhar SHO Bhushan Kumar faces further disciplinary action as authorities escalate the probe, tightening scrutiny over alleged misconduct during his tenure at the police station.
