28 July 2025 : From 1st August 2025, several important rules are set to change, which will directly impact your daily needs and monthly budget. These include changes related to credit cards, cooking gas, UPI transactions, CNG-PNG prices, bank holidays, and aviation fuel. Being aware of these changes in advance can be helpful.
- Credit Cards: SBI Card will discontinue free air accident insurance on some co-branded credit cards from 11th August. Earlier, these cards offered coverage of ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore. This could be a setback for users.
- LPG Prices: As with every month, domestic and commercial cylinder prices will be revised on 1st August. In July, the 19-kg commercial cylinder price was reduced by ₹60, while domestic LPG prices remained the same. A cut in domestic LPG prices is now expected.
- UPI Payments: New rules will apply for UPI users from 1st August. If you use apps like Paytm, PhonePe, or Google Pay, keep in mind the new limits by NPCI:
- Maximum of 50 balance inquiries per day
- Bank accounts linked to a mobile number can be viewed only 25 times
- AutoPay transactions will only be processed in three time slots: before 10 AM, between 1 PM to 5 PM, and after 9:30 PM
- Failed transaction status can be checked only 3 times a day, with a 90-second gap between each attempt
- CNG and PNG Prices: There has been no change in CNG and PNG prices in Mumbai since April. New rates may be announced on 1st August, affecting vehicle owners and domestic consumers.
- Bank Holidays: As per RBI, there will be 16 bank holidays in August 2025 across different states and festivals. Plan your banking work accordingly.
- Air Travel: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices may change on 1st August. If prices increase, flight tickets could become more expensive.
