Chandigarh/Jalandhar 25 June 2025: The Punjab Cabinet will soon be expanded. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a media interaction after meeting Governor Gulab Chand Kataria in Chandigarh.
The Chief Minister said that AAP leader Sanjeev Arora, who recently won from the Ludhiana West seat, will also be included in the cabinet. This was a promise made before the by-election, and it is now being fulfilled. Arora may be given the Industries Department since he is a successful industrialist himself and has made several efforts in this field before. Currently, this department is held by Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who already handles several key departments. Therefore, the department may be reassigned from Sond to Arora.
Demand for AAP Office in Chandigarh
During his meeting with Governor Kataria, CM Bhagwant Mann also requested space for an AAP party office in Chandigarh. He said that AAP is a national party, and like other political parties, it fulfills all the necessary conditions to have an authorized office in the Union Territory. Despite this, AAP has not yet been allotted an office in Chandigarh, even though all required criteria have been met. He informed that a formal letter has been submitted to the Governor, requesting allocation of space to establish the party office.
Summary: CM Bhagwant Mann announced a cabinet expansion in the next 2–4 days to include Ludhiana West MLA Sanjeev Arora, fulfilling the pre-poll promise; no wider reshuffle planned.
