Mann government announces major benefits for Punjab’s daughters and students

Tarn Taran October 24, 2025  : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab is firmly committed to the upliftment of the weaker and underprivileged sections of society. In line with this commitment, under the guidance of Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, crores of rupees have been released in Tarn Taran district for the welfare of poor families, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class students, as well as for the construction of community buildings.

₹12.96 crore released under the Ashirwad Yojana

Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that under the Ashirwad Yojana, which provides major financial support for the marriages of daughters from poor families, significant relief has been given to 2,542 eligible applicants in Tarn Taran district during the financial year 2024–25. A total of ₹12.96 crore has been released, with each beneficiary receiving ₹51,000. This initiative reflects the AAP government’s firm commitment toward social security.

Scholarships for 4,582 students pursuing higher education

To secure the future of Scheduled Caste and Backward Class students aspiring for higher education, major steps have been taken under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme. The cases of 4,582 such students—whose families have an annual income of less than ₹2.5 lakh—have been approved to help them continue their studies. Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the AAP government believes every child has the right to education, and this scheme will help their dreams take flight.

₹5.93 crore allocated for Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan

Taking another significant step toward social justice and community empowerment, ₹5.93 crore has been released for the construction of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bhawan. This building will serve as an important community center focused on the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and minorities. Dr. Baljit Kaur reiterated that the AAP government, following the principles of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, is committed to ensuring inclusive progress for all sections of society. She affirmed that the Punjab government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the welfare of the poor and underprivileged, and that the benefits of all schemes will reach every deserving individual.
