Dinanagar, May 1 – The BJP’s desperate attempts to snatch Punjab’s rightful share of water through the Bhakra Beas Management Board will never be allowed to succeed, and the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will not tolerate this plunder at any cost.
This declaration was made by Aam Aadmi Party’s District Urban President Shamsher Singh while addressing a protest in Dinanagar today against the BJP’s anti-Punjab decisions. He stated that the central government, along with the BJP governments of Delhi and Haryana, has united against Punjab to steal its water. He emphasized that the BJP will not be allowed to succeed in its intentions and that the Punjab government will take whatever action is necessary to defend the state’s rights. He also questioned the silence of Punjab BJP leaders and demanded they clarify their stance, calling their silence an anti-state act.
Chairman Shamsher Singh said that past central governments and neighboring state Haryana have previously attempted to loot Punjab’s rights. By offering concessions to neighboring states, they harmed Punjab’s industries. Now, they are trying to infringe on the riparian rights of Punjab, which will never be allowed to succeed. He said the Punjab government is committed to protecting the state’s water rights and will not tolerate any interference in this matter.
During this massive protest, anti-BJP slogans were raised and an effigy of BJP National President J.P. Nadda was also burned. Alongside the protest, many local leaders including Sarpanch Gurnam Singh Singowal, Sarpanch Gaurav Thakur Shahpur, Sarpanch Dodwan Nitin Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Balwinder Singh (Block In-charge Dinanagar), and Sarpanch Deepak Kumar Mehraipur participated. A large number of AAP leaders and residents from the Dinanagar constituency were also present.
