Bassi Pathana,17 June 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to providing top-quality basic facilities to the people of the state. As part of this initiative, ₹2873 crore is being spent in the current financial year for the upgradation of link roads, which will significantly improve the road infrastructure. This information was shared by MLA of Bassi Pathana, Rupinder Singh Happy, during the foundation stone laying ceremony of roads being constructed at a cost of ₹1.03 crore.
He laid the foundation stone for road construction works worth ₹79.26 lakh on Namdev Road and nearby areas, and for the upgradation of the PNB Road at a cost of ₹23.75 lakh. He stated that major development work is being undertaken in the historic town of Bassi Pathana, and no shortage of funds will be allowed for such works.
MLA Happy explained that the upgradation of these roads in Bassi Pathana was pending for a long time, causing difficulties in transportation for residents. He mentioned that earlier these roads were under the Public Works Department, but now they have been transferred under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council, which has enabled the start of construction and upgradation work. The work is targeted to be completed within three months, but efforts will be made to finish the roads ahead of schedule.
Encouraging the residents, the MLA said that people should personally monitor the construction work to ensure its quality. He emphasized that since government funds are being spent on these projects, citizens have a responsibility to oversee proper utilization of those funds.
He further added that, as a public servant of the constituency, it is his duty to resolve public issues on a priority basis, and that he is dedicated to serving the people with full commitment. He also stated that large-scale development projects will soon begin in various areas of the constituency, which will transform the region’s overall condition.
