New ‘Headache’ for Teachers Amidst Board Exams, Until March 15

board exam

Ludhaina March 3 : Currently, board exams, internal exams, and board exam evaluation work are in full swing across all schools in the state. During this time, the SCERT Punjab has issued orders to organize orientation seminars for teachers at various levels. Many teachers believe that the seminars ordered by the department and SCERT could disrupt the school management, as many schools are conducting board exams, while others are holding internal exams, and several teachers are also assigned duties for paper checking. In such a scenario, teachers may find it difficult to attend the seminars.

According to information, under the instructions of SCERT Punjab, orientation seminars for primary and upper primary teachers will be organized at the block and district levels under ‘Mission Samarth 3.0,’ which will be held from March 4 to 15. Selected Block Resource Persons (BRPs) and teachers from various districts will receive training during these seminars.

The two-day district-level orientation for Block Resource Persons will be held on March 4 and 5, while one-day block-level orientation for primary and upper primary teachers will take place from March 6 to 15. In these seminars, 912 Block Resource Persons at the primary level and 684 at the upper primary level, along with teachers from classes 3 to 8, will receive subject-specific training.

However, several teachers have expressed concerns that this seminar program might cause difficulties in conducting exams and evaluating answer sheets. Teachers believe that such additional training during the current exam period will increase their workload and disrupt the normal functioning of schools. According to teachers, most school staff are assigned duties for board exams or marking, and those remaining at the schools are busy conducting exams for other classes, checking papers, and preparing results. The organization of these seminars during this period has raised questions about the working style of the education department officials.

Summary: Teachers face a new challenge amidst board exams, with added responsibilities continuing until March 15, creating extra stress during this busy period.
