Chandigarh February 19 : If you use FASTag, this is important news for you. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has made a significant change in the FASTag rules, which have come into effect from February 17. According to the new rules, if you recharge your FASTag at a toll plaza, your tag could be blacklisted, and you will have to pay double toll charges. Let’s take a look at the new rules:
Recharge Will Not Be Allowed at This Time: You will not be able to recharge your FASTag immediately after crossing the toll booth. Drivers must wait at least 10 minutes before recharging.
Double Toll Charges to Be Paid: If you recharge your FASTag at the toll booth, it will be blacklisted. According to NPCI’s new rules, it is mandatory to recharge the FASTag at least 60 minutes before reaching the toll. If you recharge at or just before the toll booth, it will not work, and you will have to pay double the toll in cash.
When Does FASTag Get Blacklisted?
- Low Balance: If your FASTag has insufficient balance, it can be blacklisted.
- Incomplete KYC: If your KYC is not updated, your FASTag can be blacklisted.
- Late Recharge: If your FASTag is blacklisted and you recharge it within 10 minutes, you will not be charged double toll.
How to Activate Your FASTag?
- Visit the Transport Department’s website and check your e-challan status.
- Enter your registered vehicle number and check the FASTag status.
- If it’s deactivated, recharge it first and maintain a minimum balance.
- Perform payment verification, and after some time, your FASTag will be activated.
Stay Updated with the New Rules: Keep these changes in mind and ensure that your FASTag is recharged on time to avoid any trouble at the toll plaza.
