One-Day Workshop Organized to Familiarize Newly Elected Sarpanches with OSR and Flagship Schemes under the Gram Panchayat Development Plan

Batala, September 3:
A one-day workshop was organized today at the Shiv Kumar Batalvi Auditorium, Batala, to provide district-level information to Sarpanches about OSR (Own Source Revenue) and various flagship schemes. Experts and nodal officers from different departments briefed the Sarpanches about the flagship schemes being implemented by their respective departments.

On the occasion, Dera Baba Nanak MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Gurpreet Singh Gill, DDPO Harpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh Gill, District President Gurdaspur, senior leader from Sri Hargobindpur Sahib Balwinder Singh Laddi, D in Nagar constituency in-charge Shamsher Singh, Chairman Nishan Singh Randhawa, BDPO Baljit Singh, Zila Parishad member Mitrman Singh, Americ Singh, Sarpanch of village Chuhewal, along with Sarpanches from various villages, were present.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa said that the newly elected Sarpanches were provided information about the flagship schemes being implemented by various departments. He said this would greatly assist them in carrying out all-round development in their villages and undertaking development works across different sectors.

On the occasion, Rohit Kumar from PEDA provided detailed information about solar lights. He said that for installing solar lights in villages, 70 per cent of the cost would be borne by the government, while 30 per cent would be paid by the Panchayats to PEDA.

Similarly, officials from the Department of Rural Development provided detailed information about the following schemes:

  • Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)
  • National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana
  • National Social Assistance Programme
  • Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana

The Department of Water Supply and Sanitation provided information about the Jal Jeevan Mission/Atal Bhujal Yojana and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).

Officials from the Department of School Education and Literacy briefed the participants about the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme/PM POSHAN.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development provided information about Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare provided information about the National Health Mission/Janani Suraksha Yojana and Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare briefed the Sarpanches about the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Vikas Yojana, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Similarly, the Department of Animal Husbandry provided information about the National Livestock Mission, while the Department of Fisheries briefed participants about the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy provided detailed information about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan). Information was also provided by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) regarding relevant schemes for rural development and entrepreneurship.
