Over 5.76 lakh metric tonnes of crop arrive in district mandis: DC

Bathinda, October 28, 2025 : Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman informed that up to October 27, a total of 576,012 metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the grain markets across the district, out of which 537,130 metric tonnes had already been purchased. Payment amounting to ₹1,197.14 crore (as of October 27, 2025) has also been made to the farmers for the purchased paddy.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the procurement of paddy is continuing smoothly across all grain markets in the district. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience during the procurement process.

Providing further details, the Deputy Commissioner said that procurement agencies have purchased the following quantities of paddy:

  • PUNGRAIN: 227,623 metric tonnes
  • MARKFED: 128,540 metric tonnes
  • PUNSUP: 112,657 metric tonnes
  • Punjab Warehousing Corporation: 67,579 metric tonnes
  • FCI: 559 metric tonnes
  • Private traders: 172 metric tonnes

During the interaction, the Deputy Commissioner strongly appealed to farmers to bring only dry paddy to the markets to avoid any difficulties during the procurement process.

He also urged farmers not to burn crop residue (stubble) but instead to manage it using modern machinery, emphasizing that avoiding stubble burning improves soil fertility and prevents land degradation.

Summary:
The Deputy Commissioner reported that around 576,012 metric tonnes of agricultural produce have reached the district’s grain markets so far, with procurement and payment processes running smoothly for farmers.
