Pahalgam Attack Triggers Announcements in Punjab Border Villages Amid War Fears

April 28, 2025 : After the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, tensions between India and Pakistan have been steadily rising. Due to the escalating tensions between the two countries, people living in border towns are living in fear. In some places, local residents have taken precautionary measures by clearing community bunkers. According to the border residents, they hope that the situation will not deteriorate further.

Meanwhile, in the border villages of Punjab, people are frightened. Due to the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people of several villages, including the border post in Gurdaspur. Announcements are being continuously made in the village gurdwara, urging people to remain alert. Local residents have stated that there should be no war. Due to the tension, there is fear in the border villages.

On the Indian side of the border with Pakistan, there are discussions among the people in the border areas that the work of harvesting crops in the fields across the barbed wire should be completed within two days, amid fears of a war breaking out due to rising tensions.

Farmers in the border region have reported that various places have been instructed to complete the harvest of wheat crops in the fields beyond the barbed wire within two days. If the crops have been harvested, the remnants should also be cleared. Farmers have mentioned that on this side of the barbed wire, crops have already been harvested in many places, and harvesting is also ongoing in several areas beyond the barbed wire.

The residents of the border villages are living in fear of a potential war. They mentioned that along the approximately 550 kilometers long border of Punjab with Pakistan, there is more than 30,000 acres of land across the barbed wire. They expressed that people are frightened due to the threat of war and emphasized that any issue should be resolved through dialogue rather than war.
