PSEB revises Computer Science exam rules, introducing several major changes

Punjab November 19, 2025  :  – Keeping in view the increasing importance of computers and digital literacy in today’s society, the Punjab School Education Board has decided to bring major reforms in the teaching and evaluation of the Computer Science subject. This decision was taken in the Academic Council meeting chaired by the Board Chairman, Dr. Amarpal Singh, IAS (Retd.).

Although Computer Science has already been made compulsory from Class 6 onwards, it was only a grading-based subject until now. Its marks did not fully reflect the overall academic performance of the students.

Now, for the Computer Science subject in Classes 10 and 12, the responsibility of preparing the question papers and conducting the evaluation will be taken over by the Board itself. Earlier, this process was carried out at the school level. In addition, the practical examination of Computer Science will now be conducted by external examiners to ensure the real purpose of the exam and maintain high-quality evaluation standards.

The aim of these changes in the evaluation system of Computer Science is to focus the attention of both students and teachers on the practical use of digitalization, as it is extremely important not only in daily life but also for future employment opportunities.

Summary:
The Punjab School Education Board announced new rules for Computer Science exams, implementing significant changes aimed at improving evaluation standards, clarity, and overall student performance.
