Punjab Cabinet Reshuffle: Sanjeev Arora Gets Key Portfolios, Dhaliwal Resigns

4 July 2025  : Sanjeev Arora, the newly elected MLA from the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency, has been inducted as a new minister in the Punjab cabinet, while Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has been removed from the Punjab cabinet. Arora has been given the Departments of Industries and NRI Affairs.

The NRI Affairs Department was earlier held by Kuldeep Dhaliwal. Similarly, the Industries Department was previously with Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who will continue to hold the departments of Rural Development, Labour, and Tourism. Tarunpreet Singh Sond will now handle the departments of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Investment Promotion, Labour, Hospitality, Industries and Commerce, Rural Development, and Panchayats.

With Dhaliwal’s resignation, the total number of ministers in the Bhagwant Mann cabinet has come down to 16. Two positions in the cabinet are still vacant. During the by-election campaign, AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal had announced that Arora would be made a minister, and last week, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also confirmed that Arora would be inducted into his cabinet.

This is the seventh expansion of the ministerial council during the three-year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party government.
